Mine a Planet mining output is a chain, not one stat. A drone must have an active dock position, break the target ore, carry a load, travel, and complete the sale. Improving a stage that is already fast may deliver less value than fixing the one that dominates the cycle.

The official Roblox description names Speed, Cargo, and Mining Power as upgrade dimensions. Recent guide footage shows the complementary capacity loop: roll a drone, decide whether to buy it, unlock a dock position, assign the drone, and recall it when a replacement is ready.

Start with active slot capacity

If platforms is the number of dock platforms and slots per platform is the capacity each platform provides in your current UI, total slots are:

total slots = platforms × slots per platform

Only drones that fit into those slots contribute to immediate fleet production. The Drone Fleet Optimizer therefore calculates:

  • active drones: the smaller of owned/selected drones and total slots;
  • idle drones: drones beyond total slots;
  • empty slots: slots beyond active drones;
  • slot utilization: active drones divided by total slots.

Those are ordinary capacity identities, not hidden game formulas.

Capacity signals

  • Idle drones: inspect dock expansion before paying for another roll.
  • Empty slots: inspect an affordable active drone before adding more capacity.
  • Zero platforms: establish usable capacity first.
  • Zero active drones: a production estimate should stay at zero, not invent starter income.

The tool labels high utilization as a dock warning, but its threshold is an editorial scenario setting. It is not presented as a developer rule.

Measure one drone cycle

For a player-entered route, break the cycle into two measurable pieces:

cycle time = mining time + round-trip travel time

A transparent scenario can estimate mining time from Cargo, ore work, and effective Mining Power, then estimate travel time from route distance and Speed. Estimated ore per hour is Cargo multiplied by cycles per hour, and cash per hour is that throughput multiplied by the player-entered ore value.

The useful part is not pretending those inputs are official. It is seeing what happens when one assumption changes.

Why rarity is not a fleet ranking

Mine a Planet advertises a one-in-25-trillion headline rarity and free unlimited rolls. It also confirms a Luck stat. It does not publish a complete probability table or current comparable stat roster.

A rarity label alone cannot answer three practical questions:

  1. Does the drone have an active slot?
  2. Does it improve Mining Power, Cargo, or Speed for the selected ore?
  3. What is the real effective chance shown in the current UI after Luck?

The optimizer therefore accepts player-entered rarity weights and candidate throughput. It normalizes the entered weights so displayed probabilities total 100%, but it does not invent a pity counter or claim a hidden Luck curve.

If the game displays an effective 1 in N chance, use that observed number. The probability of at least one success across r independent rolls is:

1 − (1 − 1/N)^r

That identity is standard probability. Whether Mine a Planet rolls are independent, modified, or subject to undisclosed rules remains a game-data question.

How to use the Drone Fleet Optimizer

1. Copy current fleet inputs

Enter cash, platforms, slots per platform, active drones, average effective power, Cargo, Speed, and target ore tier. If a value is not visible, place it under Advanced assumptions and treat the result as low-confidence.

2. Describe the route

Enter one-way distance, ore work, ore value, and an action horizon. These values let the tool compare throughput scenarios in common cash/hour terms.

3. Enter current costs

Use the current drone-roll or purchase cost and the current platform cost. A BETA update can change both, so the tool does not ship them as authoritative defaults.

4. Compare actions, not labels

The priority queue estimates production change, horizon value, payback, and affordability for actions such as a drone, a platform, a power improvement, or a bundled capacity change. Negative-value actions remain visible rather than disappearing.

5. Read the confidence panel

A result built from several assumed values is a scenario, even when the arithmetic is exact. Re-run it after recording a real before/after cycle.

Drone Index planning

Current guide footage shows a Drone Index and describes collection bonuses. A complete current reward table is not verified, so the optimizer never silently assigns a cash value to missing entries.

If the game shows a specific next-index reward, enter it. Keep permanent multipliers separate from one-time cash. Converting a permanent bonus into cash requires a visible baseline and a chosen time horizon.

A repeatable upgrade experiment

For every purchase:

  1. record current active drones and slots;
  2. time or estimate several complete cycles;
  3. change one variable;
  4. repeat the same route;
  5. compare cash per minute or cash per hour;
  6. update the optimizer assumptions;
  7. keep the result tied to the checked build.

Frequently asked questions

What is the best Mine a Planet fleet?

There is no verified universal best fleet because complete current drone stats and effective odds are unpublished. The best active setup is the one that fits available slots and improves the route you are mining.

Should I buy a dock or roll another drone?

Buy capacity when useful drones are idle or slot use is near full; pursue another drone when a slot is empty or a visible replacement can improve it. Compare the actual costs and rates in your current build.

Does the optimizer know the official Luck formula?

No. The official description confirms Luck exists but does not publish its formula. Luck and rarity inputs in the optimizer are explicitly editable scenarios.
