Planet evolution is the largest confirmed progression beat in Mine a Planet. The official description says cinematic evolutions unlock rarer ore and bigger worlds. It does not publish a complete threshold table, ore multiplier table, transaction cost, or reset/carry-over contract.

That evidence boundary changes the right question from “What is the universal best tier?” to “Does the milestone shown in my current UI pay back within my chosen horizon?”

What is verified about evolution

From the official Roblox description, players can safely say:

  • evolution is a named planet progression system;
  • it is presented as a cinematic upgrade;
  • it unlocks rarer ore;
  • it unlocks bigger worlds;
  • the public ore examples run from Azurite to Aurum and beyond.

Recent guide footage shows a planet-upgrade flow, but a video from one build is not a durable price table. The live prompt is the authoritative place to read the target threshold and warnings.

What remains unknown

The checked public sources do not establish:

  • exact cash thresholds for each tier;
  • whether the threshold itself is consumed;
  • which drones, platforms, upgrades, cash, or side systems persist;
  • official production multipliers;
  • exact ore values after evolution;
  • which tier unlocks the Drone Index, aliens, or UFO systems;
  • a BETA 9 mutation coefficient.

The Evolution ROI Scenario leaves those values editable. A precise output from assumed inputs is still an estimate.

Record the confirmation screen first

Before confirming an evolution, capture or write down:

  1. current cash;
  2. full target threshold;
  3. amount still required;
  4. any explicit consumed cost;
  5. every asset or stat the prompt says will reset;
  6. every listed unlock;
  7. current cash per minute on a repeatable route;
  8. expected or measured cash per minute after the change.

If the prompt does not explain a reset, do not assume one. If it does explain a reset, model the specific lost component rather than using a generic penalty.

The transparent ROI model

The tool separates four values.

Remaining threshold gap

remaining gap = max(0, target threshold − current cash)

This is the grind still required. It is not automatically the amount consumed during evolution.

Production uplift

production delta = post-evolution cash/min − current cash/min

Both rates should come from your own measured route or clearly labeled scenario. The tool couples fleet size to dock capacity so drones beyond available slots do not create imaginary production.

Horizon gain

horizon gain = production delta × planning minutes

Choose a horizon that matches how you play. A 30-minute active session and an eight-hour offline period are different scenarios. Offline efficiency stays player-entered because an exact current coefficient is not published by the official description.

Reset and unlock value

net scenario value = horizon gain + entered unlock value − remaining gap − entered reset loss

Side-system value is optional. Unknown unlocks are omitted and flagged rather than silently valued at zero. A permanent multiplier should be entered only after you can connect it to a measured baseline and horizon.

Reading the recommendation

The scenario returns exactly one of three labels:

  • evolve_now: the threshold is already met and post-evolution production is positive in the entered scenario;
  • wait: the scenario improves production, but cash is still short or the selected horizon supports waiting for the threshold;
  • hard_pass: there is no active fleet, production does not improve, or the break-even is far outside the selected horizon.

These are mathematical branches, not official strategy labels. A hard_pass can become wait when the horizon, measured rate, or verified reset value changes.

ResultWhat it meansNext check
evolve_nowNo additional threshold grind in the entered scenarioConfirm reset and consumed-cost warnings
waitPositive uplift, but the milestone is not yet readyCompare grind time with the planning horizon
hard_passNo useful uplift or payback is too distantFix fleet capacity or re-measure assumptions

Fleet and dock coupling

An evolution does not make idle drones active. The scenario uses the smaller of fleet size and dock slots as the active fleet. If the player owns 10 drones and has 6 usable slots, only 6 enter the production side of the model unless the scenario also expands capacity.

This keeps evolution from receiving credit for production that is really unlocked by a separate dock purchase. Use the Drone Fleet Optimizer first if current capacity is already mismatched.

Weather, mutations, and side systems

The tool includes editable modifiers for weather and a patch-sensitive mutation scenario. A multiplier of 1 means no change. Any other value must come from a current observation or be treated as a deliberate what-if.

Likewise, alien companions, UFO events, and index rewards can influence the effective value of a new world. Their existence is visible in recent guides, but exact unlock tiers and full reward tables remain unresolved. The alien and UFO guide explains that boundary.

A before-and-after protocol

To improve future calculations:

  1. use the same number of active drones before and after;
  2. hold weather and temporary boosts constant if possible;
  3. measure several complete cycles rather than one lucky moment;
  4. record active and offline periods separately;
  5. note the visible build title and date;
  6. replace assumptions with observations one field at a time.

The result becomes more useful as the assumed fields shrink. Continue with the ore tiers guide to avoid assigning names or prices that the official description never published.

Frequently asked questions

When should I evolve my planet in Mine a Planet?

Use the current confirmation screen and compare the remaining threshold, what is consumed or reset, the measured production uplift, and your planning horizon. There is no verified universal threshold table on this site.

Does evolution reset cash or drones?

The checked official description does not publish carry-over or reset rules. Read the live confirmation screen and do not import prestige assumptions from another game.

Are the Evolution ROI Scenario defaults official?

No. Unknown thresholds, multipliers, reset penalties, and side-system values remain editable and visibly labeled as assumptions.
